Conservatory Cost to Increase

Proposed changes to building regulations in 2010 could add thousands of pounds on to the cost of a uPVC Conservatory. Matthew Glover explains that people should buy now before these regulations come into force

Wakefield, West Yorkshire (PRWEB) May 31, 2009 — New building regulations being proposed by the UK government could end up putting people off improving their homes with Conservatories and extensions it has been claimed.

The construction industry is saying that proposals in the draft consultation for the 2010 version of Part L of the Building Regulations is going to make conservatories and extensions more expensive for people looking to invest in their home.

Consumers who build extensions are likely to be forced to spend thousands of pounds improving the energy efficiency of the rest of their property under the proposals. Matthew Glover, the Managing Director of Conservatory Outlet, a manufacturer of conservatories reckons the extra cost is likely to be around £2000 per conservatory.

These new regulations will cover home extensions for the first time and that means higher carbon reduction targets which would impose electric heating restrictions as well as floor, wall and glass restrictions to make the conservatory or Orangery more energy efficient.

Matthew Glover stated, “Conservatory Outlet build their conservatories to an extremely high standard, virtually complying with building regulations anyway. But the requirement to upgrade other aspects of a home at the same time will undoubtedly add to the cost of the project.”

For those wishing to avoid the extra costs involved with the proposed regulations, the only way to do so is to have their conservatory or orangery built in 2009.

With the construction industry at below capacity due to the ongoing recession and housing crisis, there are some great deals to be had. Conservatory Outlet are offering a buy now and pay in 12 months finance solution, so people can have their conservatory now, and take advantage of the lower 2009 rates.

Conservatory Outlet is a manufacturer of replacement windows, doors and conservatories with showrooms in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Shropshire, Mid Wales and South Wales.
