How To Festively Decorate Your Windows And Doors

How to decorate your windows and doors for Christmas

We sincerely hope that you’ve put up your Christmas tree and decorations by now? You don’t want to be accused of being a Scrooge!

There is still time to do it, and don’t hold back on your decorations, not when it’s been such a challenging year.

Get those windows and doors looking super-snazzy for Santa too so that you bring a broad smile to the big man’s face on Christmas morning.

Window wreaths

It’s rare to see a front door without a wreath on it at Christmas – it’s as much of a tradition as eating mince pies and drinking mulled wine.

In America though it’s not just door wreaths you will see displayed at homes, but also window wreaths, which are just as popular.

US homeowners tend to like window wreaths with red bows on them – you can’t get much more of a Christmassy look than that, both internally and externally!

Fairy lights, lanterns and candles

Create a light show at your house that makes people hit the brake pedal in their cars when passing to take a look.

Your windows could have battery-powered fairy lights draped around them and outside your front door could be some lanterns that make your entranceway glow at night.

Use of lights and candles won’t cost much and they will give your windows and doors an attention-grabbing appearance.

Christmas ornaments

Pretty much everyone has old Christmas ornaments that they display every year and can’t bear to part with.

There may be some ornaments that you made yourself at school or that your kids created, such as a clay snowman or festive village or Nativity scene, that you could put on your windowsills.

Hot on houseplants? The most popular Christmas houseplant is poinsettias, a small Mexican shrub that is seen as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem.
