Have a declutter
It’s very easy to neglect decluttering the house as it’s a chore, but often it’s a worthwhile chore. If it fills you with dread, don’t do it alone. Get others to do their bit.
You want to try and free up as much floor space as you can, so remove anything from surfaces that can be stored elsewhere, such as on shelves or in wardrobes, and throw away anything you don’t need.
Maybe configure some of your furniture differently too, shifting your sofa and armchairs from one area to another to see if it makes a difference.
Aluminium windows
Decluttering over with, it’s then a case of seeing if you can get more natural light into the house and attention should turn to your windows for that.
If you have old windows with quite bulky frames, replacing them with aluminium windows will significantly improve light transference as they are largely filled with glass and have very little framework.
Give the glass a good clean every week or so and watch the light bounce around your rooms.

Summers are meant for garden living and you will have every reason to go outside and sample the sun if you have a bi-folding door or sliding door that leads out into it.
Opening these doors is an effortless job and when you do so, a rush of natural light will flood into your interior, making it bright and somehow more spacious.
Left closed, they will still draw in light as they have very slender frames, very much like aluminium windows as they’re made from the exact same material.
