What Will Be The Top Home Trends For 2020?

Your Christmas decorations should be down and packed away by now and the inside of your house probably feels quite bare and empty because of it.

Seeing your interior in its post-Christmas state may give you the impetus you need to modify and enhance its appearance. You won’t be on your own as thousands of homeowners will come to the same conclusion – New Year, new start, and all that!

But, before you do anything, and to inform the project, have a read of what we know to be three of the hottest home decor trends for 2020 so that whatever you do is ultra-fashionable.

‘Tranquil Dawn’ and ‘Classic Blue’ are the year’s biggest colours

Home interiors experts were waiting with bated breath for Dulux and Pantone to reveal their Colour of the Year for 2020 and they respectively selected ‘Tranquil Dawn’ and ‘Classic Blue’.

Described as a hazy pale green, Tranquil Dawn is a calm and comforting colour that Dulux say is “inspired by the morning sky”. The ultimate relaxing space in the home is the bedroom, so it’s well-suited to Tranquil Dawn, which you could apply to the walls.

According to Pantone, ‘Classic Blue’ is “a timeless and enduring hue elegant in its simplicity”. It would be a good, bold colour choice for a feature wall, or find an accessory in the colour and use it against a neutral backdrop.

Biophilic design

Biophilia is ‘a love of living things and nature’ and you will find that more and more people will be bringing nature into their home over the next 12 months.

You can do it by creating your own indoor garden and adding several house plants such as largish banana plants and ferns or small succulents and cacti. It’s a great idea if you live in an urban area and far away from any green outdoor spaces.

You can get hard-to-kill houseplants if you’re worried you will forget to water them.

Home comfort will be key

All you want after returning home after a hard day at the office is supreme comfort and to relax.

To get that comfort, homeowners will be opting for soft-feeling sofas and layering them up with lots of cosy cushions, throws and knits. This will look and feel especially good during the winter months.

Through these cushions and throws you can also add texture to your living areas and give them a personality.
