Personalise your glass roof conservatory
When in the process of buying a glass roof conservatory, you will be asked what your preferred colour, glazing and hardware is.
Choose between a textured woodgrain or smooth surface finish...
Classic UPVC can be whatever colour you want it to be – a specially developed paint application process can be employed to match even the most unique colours.
In the standard colour range, however, are timeless classics such as White, Whitegrain, Cream and Chartwell Green. Emerging favourites include Black, Grey and Irish Oak.
Aluminium-based finishes have that extra bit of quality...
The look and feel of an aluminium finish is very impressive and you can easily understand why many customers opt for one. Getting an aluminium finish just right takes time – they wouldn’t be half as good if we rushed them.
It requires an 11-stage powder-coating process to bring them to life and nothing less than that. You can also demand a woodgrain finish for your aluminium conservatory in either Walnut, Oak or Rosewood, developed using the sublimation method.

Common questions about glass roof conservatories
Planning a glass roof conservatory in Yorkshire? These helpful answers cover practical design, location and installation considerations to help you plan with confidence.
1. Will a glass roof darken adjoining rooms?
Generally, a glass roof is a good choice when retaining daylight inside the adjoining room is important. Its large glazed area allows light to travel through the conservatory towards your existing home. The final result will depend on the conservatory’s size, orientation and internal layout, which Visual can consider when creating your design.
2. Can glass conservatories work well as home offices?
Yes. A glass roof conservatory can create an inspiring home office with plenty of daylight and attractive garden views. When planning the space, consider desk positioning, electrical sockets, screen glare and privacy alongside the overall glazing specification. Visual can design the room around how you intend to work, helping create a practical space for everyday use.
3. Are glass roofs suitable near mature trees?
Yes, but surrounding trees should be considered during the design process. Falling leaves, blossom, sap and other debris can increase the amount of roof and gutter maintenance required. If your Yorkshire garden has mature trees close to the proposed conservatory, tell your Visual advisor so accessibility, drainage and suitable glazing options can be considered before installation begins.
4. How do exposed Yorkshire locations affect conservatory design?
Properties in exposed or elevated parts of Yorkshire can experience stronger winds and more challenging weather than sheltered locations. The conservatory therefore needs to be designed around the property and site rather than treated as a standard structure. Visual will assess your proposed location and recommend a specification appropriate for the entrance, available space and surrounding environment.
5. Can a conservatory connect my kitchen and garden?
Absolutely. A glass roof conservatory can create a bright transition between a kitchen and garden, providing extra space for dining, entertaining or everyday family life. If you want a more open-plan connection involving alterations to existing walls or doors, additional structural or Building Regulations considerations may apply. Visual can discuss these requirements during the design process.
6. Will roof glass help protect furniture from fading?
Modern roof glazing can reduce some of the solar energy and ultraviolet exposure entering a conservatory, but no glazing should be expected to prevent fading completely. Furniture, flooring, artwork and fabrics exposed to strong sunlight may still be affected over time. If this is important, discuss glazing performance and room orientation with Visual when specifying your conservatory.
7. Can you build a conservatory over existing paving?
An existing patio can provide the location for a new conservatory, but paving slabs themselves should not automatically be assumed to provide suitable foundations. Ground conditions and the proposed structure need to be assessed first. Visual can inspect the area during the planning process and determine what preparation and foundation work will be required for a properly constructed installation.
8. Could underground drains affect my conservatory plans?
Yes. Drains, sewers or other underground services beneath or close to the proposed conservatory can influence its position and foundation design. In some circumstances, additional approval may also be required before building near a public sewer. Identifying these issues early allows Visual to plan the project properly and advise Yorkshire homeowners on any necessary next steps.
