Helping a family realise their ambition of going open plan
One of our super-spacious glass roof orangeries has left the Morley’s with a far bigger and better house, which they adore spending time at any time of the day.
The Morley’s had a very welcome addition to their family not long after they had moved into a three-bedroom, semi-detached house – a new baby! It did though put them in a quandary as it left them needing extra space but with no desire to move as they were really taken with the house. Extending was the obvious answer and doing so would bring their home and garden closer together.
When visiting our showroom, it confirmed to them that growing the house was the correct course of action, mostly because they were so impressed with the fully installed extensions that were displayed in the venue. Spending time in these extensions saw them reach the decision to have an extension that offered an open-plan kitchen diner, perfect for a family that values cooking, dining, and entertaining in one single spot.
At their first design appointment, we showed the Morley’s a 3D impression of the orangery so they could get a detailed look of how it would slot into their current home setup and what they could do inside it. It blew them away. Once given the go-ahead by the couple, we proceeded to get Building Regulations Approval organised via their local authority. In just six weeks, the orangery was up and functioning.
Due to the build quality, the extension almost feels like an original part of the house and gives that impression to people who otherwise wouldn’t know that it hasn’t always been there. Sliding patio doors feature in the design, a handy opening for when the Morley’s wish to keep an eye on their young son from inside as he plays in the garden. The roof also has solar control glazing to avoid any overheating.
