3 Easy Home DIY Projects You Can Complete This Summer

Every homeowner has had a DIY disaster at some time in their life, but you shouldn’t let that put you off having another craft at it. Not all DIY is hard work. Some of it is really straightforward.

House Extension - Bi-Folding Doors

Why is it worth doing DIY? Because it gives you a sense of accomplishment, improves your property, and can also enhance its value. So there’s lots of reasons to give it a bash!

So, what DIY will you do this summer?

Put your house under close inspection and that may reveal some potential DIY ideas. Failing that, just listen to Visual and we can offer some suggestions:

Smarten up your cabinets

Cabinets are a prominent feature of any kitchen or bathroom, and once they look untidy, so does the room they’re in.

You may not even need to replace the units if they are still in decent condition and can just either repaint the outside of the cabinets, or reface the outer skin, after you have exchanged any damaged or worn hardware.

It will be such a cheap upgrade, but a really effective one as the cabinets will look new again. Retaining the original units is also very environmentally-conscious.

Create a gallery on a wall

A wall that’s covered in lots of photographs will be a lot more visually enticing than one that’s left completely bare.

Establish a themed gallery on an empty wall in your indoor space, which could consist of several family pictures taken at home or abroad, or snaps of celebrities that you admire.

Picture frames are pretty cheap, and we recommend buying frames of various styles, sizes and colours to make it really prominent on the eye and ensure guests take notice of it.

Update your garden with pallets

Our garages are a treasure trove of ‘stuff’ and in your garage you may have some pallets that are just sitting there doing nothing.

Put them to use and upcycle them for the garden, an area of the house that also needs to be focused on.

With some TLC, you can turn pallets into vertical planters which you can then install in your garden and use for growing plants. Other than that idea, pallets also make for good wooden benches, when organised right, to which you can then put down some padding for nicely cushioned seating.

Call in Visual if you want work done to your home that goes beyond DIY, such as the installation of new windows and doors. We can be contacted for assistance here.
