We may believe we have mastered the art of a multi-functional space by turning our spare rooms into a home office. But 2022 is the year we really make our homes truly work for us. 

This could mean combining your home office with a home gym or yoga studio, or investing in a new living space that can be used for a whole multitude of purposes, such as a playroom, conference room or space for relaxation.

Grandmillennial decor

Millennials are beginning to reject bland decor that lacks personality and instead favouring traditional decor, reminiscent of our beloved grandparents’ homes. 

The grandmillennial trend involves adding individual touches to your home, bringing bags of character to your space. This could be as simple as adding framed photographs to your walls, interesting prints on your soft furnishings and needlepoint cushions with meaningful quotes.

The trend is a rejection of cloned, so-called modern homes that lack individuality and a celebration of all that sparks joy.

White is out

Don’t shy away from colour in 2022. Too many homes rely on bland neutrals that have little visual impact on our homes.

Instead, embrace colours found in nature, such as green and brown. From sage to terracotta, these earthy tones will ground your home with a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere.

Pantone’s Colour of the Year, “Very Peri”, will likely make an appearance in homes looking for a pop of colour. The blue colour with violet undertones has been described as joyful and spritely by Pantone.
